Care tips
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Some varieties tolerate medium light. Avoid direct sun which can scorch the dramatic foliage.
- Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2 cm of soil is dry. Reduce watering in winter when growth slows — dormancy is normal.
- Soil & Potting: Use a well-draining, airy mix — peat, perlite, and orchid bark. Alocasias are prone to root rot, so good drainage is essential.
- Temperature & Humidity: Keep between 18–27°C (65–80°F). Requires high humidity (60%+). Use a humidifier for best results. Avoid cold drafts.
- Extra Tips: Alocasias may go dormant in winter and lose leaves — this is normal. Reduce watering and wait for new growth in spring.
