Hoya polyneura 'Albo', commonly known as the Variegated Fishtail Hoya, is a highly coveted variety of the Hoya polyneura. It is distinct for its mermaid tail-shaped leaves and striking white or creamy variegation.
Care Guide
- Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Protect the white variegated sections from direct hot sun to prevent leaf burn.
- Temperature: Prefers cooler to moderate temperatures, ideally between 15–27°C (60–80°F). It is more sensitive to high heat than many other Hoyas.
- Watering: Water when the top half of the soil is dry. It is sensitive to overwatering; ensuring the soil is well-drained is critical to prevent root rot.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (above 50%) for optimal growth and to help new leaves unfurl properly.
- Soil: Use a chunky, well-aerated mix (e.g., orchid bark, perlite, and peat).

Care tips
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Can tolerate some morning direct sun. Avoid harsh afternoon sun which can burn leaves.
- Watering: Allow the top 50% of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering in winter. Hoyas prefer to be slightly underwatered than overwatered.
- Soil & Potting: Use a well-draining, chunky aroid mix — orchid bark, perlite, and peat moss work well. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot.
- Temperature & Humidity: Keep between 15–27°C (60–80°F). Hoyas enjoy moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C.
- Extra Tips: Hoyas are epiphytic and love to climb or trail. Do not remove old flower peduncles — they will bloom again from the same spot.
